| about M.B. Tankersley So you want to know about me, eh? I'll tell you what I know... I am 33 years old. I grew up in and around the tiny Texas town of Valley Mills , population 1,123. Was raised by my mother and her parents. From my mom, I learned how to be strong in the face of harsh odds, yet tender to those whom I love. My grandfather taught me to have faith and how a man is supposed to treat his family. My grandmother blessed me with a thirst for knowledge and a questioning mind. In 1996 I graduated from University of North Texas, home of the Mean Green. That is where I started writing- truly bad love poems at first- but we all start somewhere. Denton, TX is still a beloved place to me. In that city I met a beautiful person named Carla . We were married shortly before my graduation. In 1998, our daughter Amara came into the world. In 2002, son Garron followed. I never knew life could have a point until I became a father. Carla and I began attending a Unitarian Universalist church in 1999 and became members the same year. The freedom of thought encouraged and the atmosphere of open-mindedness is what continues to attract us to the church. Having "open minds, loving hearts and caring hands" is what our children learn as UUs. This describes the UU worldview better than anything else I've read or heard. After a short stint in San Antonio, we moved back to the Waco area, where we currently reside with three dogs, two cats and many large trees. While there are far too many Republicans here for my taste, we try to live in peace with them. I work for a national retailer, running their billboard and out-of-home advertising program. It requires quite a bit of travel; it is great to have the opportunity to see places I would not get to otherwise. Thank you for visiting my little place for poetry. I appreciate the time you have spent reading my words. May you find what you're seeking. So mote it be! |
